The NEN 3140 inspection focuses on electrical installations already in use. This inspection is performed periodically to assess whether the installation remains safe during daily use.
A NEN 3140 inspection looks at, among other things:
- The general condition of the electrical system and connected work equipment.
- Visible defects or wear that may cause hazards.
- The need for maintenance or repair to ensure continued safe use.
How often a NEN 3140 inspection is required depends on the use, environment and type of installation. In working environments this inspection is often repeated periodically.
What is the difference with a NEN 50110 inspection?
The NEN 50110 inspection is an additional standard arising from European directives. This standard follows on from the NEN 3140 and focuses mainly on working safely on and with electrical installations.
In situations where extra attention is required for safety or where more complex installations are present, a NEN 50110 inspection can be requested in addition to or in combination with a NEN 3140 inspection.
